Anxiety is a common human emotion. People often feel anxious when having to confront a person, take a test, or try something new. Anxiety becomes a disorder when it a person is no longer able to lead a normal life. Below are symptoms common to general anxiety disorders.
- Panic, worry, or fear
- Shortness of breath
- Tension in the chest or stomach
- Difficult sleeping
- Obsessive thoughts
- Pacing and inability to sit still
If two or more apply to you, it may be worth your while to consult with a counselor. In session, the counselor will learn the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors resulting from anxiety. Then together, you will explore events that challenge you and create new coping skills.
